1. introduced a classmate using maps of Japan (Kansai) and China);
2. corrected our written book reports (N.B. write the title of your book like this, “Book Title”);
3. studied the structure of an English sentence: a sentence must have a verb, a capital letter at the beginning of the first word, and a period (.) or question mark (?) or exclamation mark (!) at the end. A sentence usually has a subject and often has a predicate (その他）.
4. We copied down several sentences and marked the subject, verb and predicate.
5. Then we read several sentences and checked if they were complete (correct) sentences or not.

My most important and best benefit is appeal to authority. So, high-ranking people’s support is not proof.

There is a new theory about how the the universe was born. It is supported by many respected scientists. According to this theory, a cloud of antimatter collided with a cloud of matter. Stars were created which gave out energy in pulses. These pulses would make stars twinkle. Researchers have found that all stars twinkle. Therefore, this theory is correct.

1. 今回の授業も曖昧な文章について勉強しました。
   所々、頭でよく整理しないと理解しにくかった文章もありましたが、同じような文章でも少し違うだけで全く異なった文章になるんだな、と思いました。
   “can’t be ”で、～なわけがないや“must be”で、～にちがいないなど、基本的な文法も思い出す事が出来て良かったです。
1. 授業内容
   今日は、三つの問題を推理して正か誤かを考えることをしました。vague termやcurriculum
1. ①科目を勉強するための準備 grammar　文法学 logic 論理学rhetoric（修辞学）や
2. ②quadrivium　（四科）とtrivium　（三学）（中世大学の教育法）の勉強をしました。
2. 感想
   知らない単語がいっぱいあり、長い文章で意味を理解するのに苦労しました。また、私が感じたことですが最初の問題が誤なら最後の問題も誤となることが推理を解いているうちに分かりました。

   先生の説明で分かるようになった

4. were tested on the instructions.
5. received the handout for lessons 3 and 4 (download from TIES)
6. practiced “on, under, next to, in, empty, throw, give, put”.

Today, we

1. reviewed the basics of writing: capital letters and basic punctuation. Download the handout from TIES.
2. learned the standard format. This is for school papers, essays and reports.Paragraph_format_typed
3. re-wrote our self-introduction emails in standard format (double-spaced)
4. got our reading test results
5. went to the library and borrowed a book from our level.

1. Type your self-introduction in MS Word.

2. Create a new email, subject Writing A Self-introduction Your Name, attach 添付 your file and send it to me by Monday midnight.
3. Read your book and tell the class about it next week (bring your book to show the class).
