Study Skills

Happy New Year, everyone.

We have just two classes left: today and January 23rd.

Today, you need to

1. complete one of these two forms. To do this you will need your Study Skills portfolio (file folder):
   1. 2nd semester summary Course A
   2. 2nd semester summary Course B
2. Hand in the form (either A or B) together with your portfolio.

A reminder - I posted this notice at the beginning of December:

2008年度のシェフナ担当のStudy Skills B の学生の皆様へ、

段々寒くなってきました。もう年末が近づいてきました。

1月には2回の授業があります。

学生の皆さん、必ず最後の2回の授業を出席しなければなりません。

試験（再試験、追試験も）ありませんので、ご注意ください。

Study Skills Bの評価方法は各自作ったポートフォリオの評価です。

ポートフォリオは後期にわたって書いたワークシート等等です。

ポートフォリオは学生が後期にわたってやった仕事です。

講師（シェフナ）がそのポートフォリオを評価して採点します。

ポートフォリオの提出の締切は第14回目2009年1月9日（金）の授業です。

提出前に、後期の勉強のサマリーを書く必要がありますから、授業に遅れないようにご注意ください。

各自が自分のポートフォリオを直接講師に提出して下さい。

講師（シェフナ）がポートフォリオの仮評価を1月9日～23日（15回目、最後の授業）に行います。

皆さん最後の授業-1月23日-に必ずご出席してください。

提出物が足りない（追加が必要）場合はその時（1月23日）に言います。

The ends of the calendar year and of the academic year are fast approaching. I hope you are all well.

In January, we have only two class periods: Jan. 9^th and Jan 23^rd.

Everyone must attend both of these 2 classes, without fail.

To obtain credits for Study Skills B (2008), you must complete the course work. The course work requirements are listed in the syllabus. You can check it online here:

The course work must be kept in a portfolio or file, and this file

must be handed in, in person, to the instructor during the 14^th session, Friday January 9^th, 2009 (10:30)

Before handing in their portfolio, students will be required to fill out a summary of their portfolio contents. This will take some time, so please come to the class on time.

The instructor, myself, will conduct a preliminary assessment of students’ portfolios between Jan 9^th - Jan 23^rd (the 15^th and final session).

All students must attend the 15^th (final) session.

In some cases, extra work may be required to fulfill the course requirements. In that case, I will tell you on that day (Jan. 23^rd, 2009).

November 5th is Bonfire Night in Britain. It is a big celebration, bigger than Hallowe’en. It is called Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes’ Night (or sometimes Guy Fawkes’ Day), or Fireworks Night. You can read more about it on Wikipedia (or in Japanese here: 火薬陰謀事件).
